Election Day Hits the Slopes in Ski Country

Every four years, a new president (or old one!) gets elected and the country seems to put things on hold until they see the outcome of the contest. It may be that next big purchase like a car, flat screen TV or even a vacation. Sometimes retailers will even show that the week after an election proves to be a great week of sales depending on the outcome. I think a fair comparison is to that of Groundhog day! If the country sees the presidents shadow, there will be four more years of spending!

How does this effect the ski industry? Many people will make much of their plans, but not pull the trigger on booking it until just after November 4th. How does the result effect how much powder they will be skiing in? The easy answer is it doesn't have anything to do with the powder you'll be skiing. If the ski resorts can't predict what kind of snow year it will be, how does the presidency have anything to do with it? My advice is to book your trip now because powder stashes are hard to come by!
