At Whistler Blackcomb: 28 Inches in 24 Hours

Anytime you measure snow in feet, you know it has to be pretty epic. Whistler Blackcomb received 28 inches of snowfall in a 24 hour period just before Martin Luther King weekend turning the host of the 2010 Olympics into an instant winter wonderland. Along with the heavy snowfall, high winds required that some of the lifts be closed until calmer weather arrived, which was forecasted for the weekend. In just a seven day period, 47 inches of snow has fallen recording one of the biggest storms Whistler has seen this season.

"Even with all the snow this year, this latest storm was one of the most intense storms we've dealt with in a long time," said Doug MacFarlane, Whistler Blackcomb's mountain manager. "Ski Patrol has been conducting extensive avalanche control work, and Operations crews have been working throughout the night and day digging out. For those guests who endured the storm, the rewards were plentiful as there were many fresh tracks to be had. We would have loved to have opened up more terrain today; with the avalanche control work we can get done tonight and tomorrow morning, Saturday will be epic."

Now is a great time to book your package Whistler with the Delta Whistler Village including a FREE night. Five Night/4 Day packages start at $959 per person.
